The city is located in southwestern Utah, just two and a half hours north of Las Vegas and three and a half hours south of Salt Lake City. The area has a large variety of businesses and, in the surrounding area, agriculture is important. Cedar City is also home to Southern Utah University and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. The city has a population of over 21,000 people.
